A dark Roux - This process takes hours none stop over a stove to perfect and is commonly used as a base for Gumbo. Luckily, I have done the hard part for you! Simply add your choice of vegetables, seafood stock, meats, and your prefered seasonings! Enjoy!

 

Tips:

 

Prefered Vegetables (The Holy Trinity of Gumbo)

  • White onion
  • Celery
  • Green Bell pepper

 

Homemade seafood broth is always best (boil shrimp and crab shells /legs or any seafood you desire in water or light chicken broth to create a delicious homemade seafood broth!)

  • Shrimp
  • Crab
  • Lobster
  • Crawfish
  • Scallops
  • Fish
  • Chicken (Grilled, blackened, boiled)
  • Duck
  • Sausage

 

Seasonings

  • Cajun Seasonings (Do it however you like!)

 

Popular Misc.

  • Okra
  • jalapeno
  • Rice
  • Gumbo File (Can be found at most grocery stores. Added right before serving to create a thicker more complex Gumbo profile)
